RELEASE:  Fighting Illini Athletics is encouraging fans to Paint the State Orange this fall as part of the ILLINOIS. Our State. Our Team. campaign. Illini fans can show their spirit in two ways: by helping color their area orange on the fan map or by submitting a photo of themselves in Illini gear for a chance to be a football Fan of the Game.

Illinois fans can declare their county as Illini territory by filling out the form on the Paint the State Orange website. The more submissions a county receives, the more orange it will become on the map. As a reward, the county with the most submissions per capita will earn a visit from Coach Beckman next spring. Fans who live out of state also are encouraged to participate and turn their state or country orange and spread their Illini pride across the globe. The fan map will be updated daily.

In addition, fans can submit photos of themselves, friends and family showing their Illini spirit. A Fan of the Game will be selected from the submissions on the Monday of each home football game week. The winner will get two tickets to that weekend’s game and will be recognized on the field and on the Memorial Stadium video board. Select photos also will be featured on fightingillini.com and the Fighting Illini Athletics Facebook page.
