Gophers Lead for In-State Big Man
One of the surprise talents from this spring’s EYBL play has been 7-foot big man Akolda Manyang from the Howard Pulley Panthers and Duluth, MN East. He has burst onto the recruiting radar with his ability to block shots and run the floor in events in Minneapolis, Dallas, and this past week in North Augusta.
Those athletic gifts, along with an emerging offensive game has drawn the attention of a number of schools including the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
“Right now Minnesota has emerged as my favorite,” Akolda Manyang told XOFan. “Its close to home and I like the coaches. But, I’m still open and have been hearing from Penn State, UTEP, Tennessee, Utah, Boson U, and Virginia.”
“I’m still open and want to play for a school that fits my style of play,” Manyang continued. “Plus one that has the opportunity to play right away.”
“I like to run (he has excellent speed) and feel I can block shots at any level,” Manyang said. “I hope that schools that fit the bill will be calling, as I’m still open/
We hope he gets his wish, but know, based on his comments, that Minnesota may be tough to beat if they put the full court press on this in-state big man, so stay tuned as we follow his recruiting this fall, right here at XOFan.com.
