Illinois Sharpshooter Heading to Big Ten
Nathan Taphouse, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound wing from Pekin (Ill.) gave a verbal commitment late Sunday night to Northwestern.
Yes, that Northwestern, which received a verbal last week from 6-3 rising senior point guard Jaren Sina of Gill St. Bernard (Gladstone, N.J.).
Taphouse’s father played at UW-Green Bay back in the day.
Taphouse also had 13 offers especially from several Missouri Valley Conference schools, including Creighton, Bradley and Illinois State. Creighton is out of scholarships for the 2013 recruiting class but the allure of playing in the Big Ten and earning a diploma from an elite academic institution formed the perfect combination. Taphouse built a solid relationship with head coach Bill Carmody making the decision a slam dunk.
Taphouse plays for the Chicago Wolves on the club circuit this summer. This weekend the Wolves captured the Chicago Summer Challenge.
