Moore Verbals to Penn State; Austin Decommits
Just when it was fashionable to pile on Penn State — a.k.a. the football mess — head basketball coach Patrick Chambers received some good news.
That’s because Julian Moore, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound power forward from the Class of 2013, committed to Penn State this weekend,
Moore, who attends Germantown Academy (Fort Washington, Penn.) in suburban Philadelphia, is a fertile basketball hotbed Chambers, who is a Philadelphia native and previously an assistant at Villanova. Moore also had offers from Virginia Commonwealth, La Salle, Boston University (where Chambers previously coached) and Duquesne. Last month he attended Penn State’s camp and made an official visit to State College in June.
Moore is a versatile frontline performer, who can post up and face up, and is known for a tremendous work ethic according to several coaches.
All news wasn’t that good in State College.
Earlier in the week, 6-6 rising senior point guard Brandon Austin of Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia, de-committed from the Nittany Lions. Austin did not point to the football scandal for his decision and has not completely scratched the Lions off his list of future suitors.
