Iowa never should have asked. The Hawkeyes simply should have done it. What would the NCAA do after-the-fact? Make Iowa apologize for honoring the memory of a true student-athlete?

I don’t get why they were even involved. some teams put their names on the back, some teams don’t.

I would have just done it and not even asked them. Eff the NCAA.

I would say the ONLY logical explanation would have been if they thought that would confuse the refs calling the game, but the refs have to go simply by the numbers on the teams that don’t have names on the jerseys anyway.

Plus, the B1G refs are so bad confusion might actually help them call the game.
